The Jam Project is a year long program that pairs a year 9 girl with a trained buddy. Fortnightly catch ups allow for personal discussions to take place which supports the girls in navigating adolescence. The regular and consistent contact between the buddies and the Year 9 girls inspire the development of confidence, self-esteem, resilience and leadership skills. Jam group sessions highlighting relevant topics throughout the year also take place for all involved. They are fun and informative enabling a group bond to be formed.
Participants are Year 9 girls (applications open when prospective participants are in Year 8) and buddies aged in their twenties.
Our program supervisor trains buddies prior to the program commencing and is consistently in touch with girls, buddies and parents.
Buddies and girls meet up fortnightly for their regular catch ups, whilst the whole group comes together during the year for our Jam group sessions. Additionally, buddies attend professional development sessions with our supervisor throughout the year.
