A large component of expanding our program is educating local services about Caring Mums. Over the last few months, we presented to seven different groups of referrers. The presentations were to the Maternal Child and Health Nurses from the cities of Port Phillip, Glen Eira, Bayside and Kingston, as well as to the Monash Mother/Baby Unit and Star Health.

After a short winter hibernation, our Caring Mums program is back in action. The Melbourne chill and rain has not stopped our supervision catch-ups and our campaign to raise program awareness.

Caring Mums is back in full swing with 16 new volunteers having completed our training, and one new volunteer supervisor on board.

We were all so excited in January when Caring Mums was announced as a finalist in the HESTA Impact Awards for 2022. This is no mean feat when you consider that the awards recognise people working in health and community services across Australia who are committed to creating a better future. Being one of only four finalists (in their category) from organisations across Australia shows the enormous impact of our Caring Mums program.

As we emerge from our months in lockdown, Caring Mums is excited to be able to finally connect with our mums in person. It has been a huge learning curve for all of us. We now need to ensure that these new learnings are not overlooked.
